Benchmark indices were trading lower in Wednesday’s afternoon session, with metal, realty, and auto stocks being the biggest drags.
The S&P BSE Sensex slipped 126 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 37,857, with IndusInd Bank, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Bajaj Finance, and Mahindra & Mahindra being its top losers. The broader Nifty50 was hovering around the 11,275-mark, down 56 points, or 0.5 per cent.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the red, with Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto indexes, down 1.3 per cent each, taking the deepest cuts.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index slumped 197 points, or 1.4 per cent, to 13,719, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was down 133 points, or 1 per cent, to 13,074.
