Axis Bank today said that its group executive and chief financial officer (CFO) Jairam Sridharan has resigned. “He would like to pursue other career opportunities and as such has resigned from the services of the bank,” the bank said in a statement.
Mr Sridharan will continue to serve as the group executive & chief financial officer of the bank under his notice period of three months, Axis Bank added. The private bank said it has initiated a succession plan for finding a replacement.
“The bank places on record its appreciation for the invaluable contribution provided by Jairam Sridharan during his tenure as the Group Executive & Chief Financial Officer of the Bank and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” Axis Bank said in a statement.
He joined Axis Bank in June 2010 from Capital One Financial, a consumer bank based in Richmond, VA (USA). He earlier worked with ICICI Bank in their initial foray into retail lending businesses.
With nearly two decades of experience in the banking and financial services industry, Jairam Sridharan was elevated to the current position in October 2015.
In his previous role in Axis Bank, he was president of retail lending and payments and was responsible for driving growth in the retail lending and payments businesses comprising retail lending products, cards business and the agriculture and rural lending business.
Mr. Sridharan is a graduate from IIT Delhi and Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Calcutta.
